About The Position

This is a professional nursing position with infection control responsibilities at Lakeview Health Center & Assisted Living of La Crosse County. Employee is selected by and works under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing Services. Employee in this class is responsible for implementation, supervision and evaluation of resident care and management of the Licensed Practical Nurses, Nurse Technicians and Nursing Assistants on a particular shift or living area. Wage range up to $43.19 per hour. Schedule: Day Shift - 72 hours per pay period 2 to 3 days per week as Infection Control RN Remaining shifts as staff RN May fill in as Building Supervisor May assist with on-call coverage Includes every-other weekend & holiday rotation You will: Lead infection prevention and safety initiatives Provide exceptional nursing care to residents Collaborate with staff to maintain a safe, healthy environment

Requirements

  • Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with current Registered Nurse license in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Those persons driving must have and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver license and good driving record.
  • CPR certification.
  • Must maintain a valid Wisconsin nursing license.
  • Must successfully pass a background check as required by the Wisconsin Caregiver Law.

Nice To Haves

  • Infection Control experience preferred.
  • Preference for nursing experience in a long-term care facility.
  • May consider other relevant combinations of education and experience that provide equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care within the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act. Provides direct nursing care including administering medications and treatments.
  • Supervises all nursing activities on assigned living area.
  • Evaluates and determines resident needs and initiates and revises the resident care plan. Contributes to the multidisciplinary resident care planning.
  • Provides for implementation of all medical orders; assists physician, as needed; collaborates with the Nurse Managers to prepare information for physician's rounds.
  • Makes clinical assessments of resident condition and behaviors. Determines appropriate action based on these assessments. Makes accurate and complete nursing notes of these observations and actions in the clinical records.
  • Documents accurately and completely all observations, interventions and procedures relating to resident care.
  • Directly supervises the performance of nursing tasks assigned to Nurse Technicians.
  • Determines and supervises work assignments to provide maximum utilization of Nursing Assistants and is responsible to see that assigned tasks are accomplished.
  • Provides feedback to nursing assistants regarding job performance.
  • Assists in the training and orientation of new staff.
  • Ensures correct and appropriate diet for residents.
  • Documents all observations and procedures relating to resident care accurately and completely.
  • Prepares daily shift reports and keeps supervisory nurse informed.
  • Employee is expected to report to work when scheduled, with minimum use of sick leave, to build up sick leave balance for income protection for unexpected illness.
  • Works safely and follows safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard.
  • In this public service position, employee is required to be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times, with the public and clients. Also establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors and public officials.
  • Maintains residents' rights and confidentiality of resident information; reports all suspected cases of resident abuse to the Administrator.
  • Immediately reports all suspected cases of resident abuse, neglect or misappropriation of funds to the supervisor.
  • Attends in-service education as provided or mandated.
  • Supports all aspects of person-centered care. Respects and acknowledges individuality and uniqueness of residents.
