About The Position

Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is one of the largest providers of sexual and reproductive healthcare in Southern California, operating 20 health centers throughout our three-county region. We are looking for an full-time RN III Float. This role is designed to travel to all counties in our three county region: San Diego County, Riverside County, and Imperial Valley. The person hired for this role will have the opportunity to work in many different settings and be asked to float to many different clinics for every shift, meeting new people and working with new staff members every day! ~Saturday coverage is an important part of this role, please make sure you are comfortable working Saturday shifts~ As an RN III here at Planned Parenthood, you will provide quality reproductive healthcare services within RN scope in specialty setting; provide leadership and serve as a knowledge resource for other licensed and non-licensed staff; and create a psychologically safe team space rooted in diversity, equity and inclusion.

Requirements

  • has completed a Register Nursing program at an accredited school and holds an active license in the state of California.
  • has completed a recovery room or surgical training program.
  • has experience in Emergency or triage services, surgical services, reproductive health care services, and/or abortion services.
  • is eager to work in an environment that supports the agency’s commitment to equity and belonging.
  • demonstrates empathy and compassionate care.
  • is very flexible, open to traveling to all Southern California counties, and willing to jump in to help with coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain responsibility for nursing services in the Specialty Services Center.
  • Educate clients on FDA approved birth control methods (including emergency contraception).
  • Dispense all FDA approved birth control methods (including emergency contraception) per Clinician or MD orders and maintain working knowledge of all medications used.
  • Dispense oral and intra-muscular medications and maintain a working knowledge of all medications used; and dispense controlled substances as directed by Physician or mid-level Clinician.
  • Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals.
  • Perform moderate complexity lab tests; and perform venipuncture and give injections.
