The Department of Mental Health, Northeast Area (NEA) is seeking an organized and energetic Registered Nurse to oversee nursing and health management, including the general management of medication and health related issues, for residents at the NEA state operated residential programs. This position will serve three locations, High St Apartments, Respite, and Marguerite Place for they are considered one work unit. In addition, the ideal candidate will work under the direction of the Central Office Map Coordinator in ensuring MAP requirements are implemented and maintained at the State Operated Programs. Secures services necessary in the treatment of population served. Please note\: the position is day shift, 10\:00am-6\:30pm Monday-Friday. Days off\: Saturday and Sunday. Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive): Provides direct nursing assessment to individuals across three programs including specialized assessments in an environment that promotes and upholds the philosophy of empowerment and recovery which includes encouraging resident independent decision making, providing an atmosphere of individual risk taking and allowing individuals to regain control of their lives regarding medication and health related issues. Coordinates medical care for individuals served including educating and assisting individuals to obtain needed community health services. Coordinates Medication Assistance Program (MAP) by ensuring the scheduling of MAP certifications/recertification’s; providing training for High Alert MAP requirements when needed; tracks and reports staff MAP certification; ensures the documentation meets MAP licensing standards; presents the documentation to the State MAP inspector annually. Acts as liaison with the State MAP inspector. Provides orientation and training, and/or coordinates training or recertification, for staff and residents in health-related topics such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, First Aid/CPR, Infection Control, high alert medications, Narcan, and health conditions such as diabetes, COPD, heart disease. Provides guidance to program staff on health conditions, health assessments, and monitoring health issues including blood pressure, heart rates, and effectiveness of PRN medications to comply with program and department standards. Develops and oversees wellness programming including health, nutrition, and exercise for all programs that can be available and incorporated into the daily living of all individuals served. Responsible for overseeing all written documentation necessary for resident and program operations regarding medication and health related issues. Ensures the completion of relevant documentation necessary for a complete up-to-date record in accordance with program and department standards. Collaborate with all Program Directors and staff, as part of a multidisciplinary team, on providing behavioral and crisis interventions; person centered trauma informed individual action plans; and in creating an environment which enhances self-improvement and increased independent living. Participates in meetings relevant to programmatic and assigned individual issues to ensure consistency in the planning and implementation of program services. Carries out job duties in a professional manner by exhibiting a positive, flexible attitude and initiating opportunities for personal and professional growth to enhance the overall operations of the state operated programs. Follows program policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment which cultivates individual independence. Performs all other relevant duties as assigned including but not limited to maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the program space and participating in performance improvement activities and other program quality improvement.
