About The Position

The RN in Surgical Observation cares for Phase 2 and post-op patients from the PACU and OR. These patients are med-surg level of care for surgeries. Each will plan to discharge same day or within 23 hours post-op. Nurses are responsible for Phase 2 anesthesia recoveries and surgery specific care to include surgery specific discharge instructions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
• RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.

• A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
• Preoperative or PACU experience is required.
• Must have ACLS certification for pre/post areas.
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
