MUSC delivers approximately 3,200 patients annually. Labor and Delivery, consists of 17 LDRs, 2 ORs, 3 PACU beds, and 4 Triage rooms. In addition to vaginal and cesarean deliveries, L&D provides operative services such as cerclage and tubal ligation. Medical support includes management of gestational/chronic diabetes, hypertension, and other high risk antepartum conditions including acceptance of high risk maternal transports from the region. Wireless Electronic Fetal Monitoring is available in all beds. Perinatal palliative care is available as needed. The staffing mix includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Surgical Technicians, and Unit Secretaries.
