Duties of the GYN Oncology RN med/surg clinic nurse includes assisting patients with support and education, phone triage of pre- and post-surgical patients, provide care and follow up to ill and recovering GYN Oncology patients. The medical-surgical nurse must be able to meet with patients pre-operatively, track patient’s hospital stay and discharge, assess patient condition via phone triage, review surgical pathology with physicians for appropriate postoperative appointment and genetic testing as well as assist with medication management, wound care and dressings changes, coordinate continued home health needs and keep accurate records regarding postoperative treatment. Qualifications: Graduated from an accredited program for professional nursing education. OCSRI is willing to train the right candidate. Oncology and/or medical/surgical experience highly desirable. Growth opportunities once an oncology certification is obtained. Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer is a plus. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current CPR certification required. Must maintain continuing education requirements.
