About The Position

The ChristianaCare GI Practice at Havertown, PA is looking for a Registered Nurse to join its growing team! The position involves providing telephone and in-person triage support and patient education, answering and responding to telephone messages under the direction of the provider, and assisting providers in examinations or procedures. The nurse will function as a liaison between patients, physicians, and staff to provide accurate communication and support the work of LPN and/or MA. Additionally, the role includes assisting with staff education and evaluation of clinical competencies for new and existing employees, performing chart audits, and supporting the site by acting as the liaison for JCAHO and other monitoring tools. The nurse will also administer medications, monitor vital signs, and perform routine treatments and procedures prescribed by the physician when needed. The position requires keeping current with policies and procedures and participating in quality improvement activities. There is potential for as-needed coverage to support another practice at the Glen Mills, PA location.

Requirements

  • A graduate of a state approved or National League of Nursing accredited School of Nursing.
  • RN license or eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • BLS certification.
  • Two years' experience as a RN, physician office experience preferred.
  • BSN preferred; ADN considered with agreement of completion of BSN in 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Provides telephone and in-person triage support and patient education.
  • Answers and responds to telephone messages under the direction of the provider.
  • Assists providers in examinations or procedures.
  • Functions as a liaison between patients, physicians, and staff to provide accurate communication.
  • Supports the work of LPN and/or MA.
  • Assists with staff education and evaluation of clinical competencies for new and existing employees.
  • Assists with orientation of new personnel to ensure proper training.
  • Performs chart audits or has designee assist with chart audits.
  • Randomly shadows clinical support staff to ensure appropriate care is provided.
  • Acts as the liaison for JCAHO, POCT, Tracer monitor for Safe Practice Behavior Monitoring (SPBM) tools & JCAHO Tracers.
  • Administers medications, monitors vital signs, and performs routine treatments and procedures prescribed by the physician when needed.
  • Keeps current with policies and procedures and participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Participates in special projects.
