About The Position

The Registered Nurse II position in the Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center (EMTC) is a critical role within a teaching environment, providing essential medical services under the supervision of board-certified emergency physicians and Registered Nurses. The EMTC is dedicated to delivering high-quality emergency care to over 120,000 patients and families annually, addressing a wide range of medical conditions from mild to life-threatening. The role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure efficient operations and patient care. The EMTC utilizes the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) tool for triaging patients based on acuity and necessary resources, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate care regardless of their background or ability to pay. The EMTC is structured to handle diverse patient needs, featuring multiple care areas including a Rapid Treatment Unit, Code Rooms, and specialized psychiatric care facilities. The position involves working in a dynamic environment where nurses are expected to maintain high standards of practice, adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, and engage in continuous professional development. The nursing practice is grounded in the Professional Model of Care, emphasizing accountability and responsibility for individual practice. The EMTC operates under a shared leadership model, with a multidisciplinary team overseeing operations and patient care.
