About The Position

MUSC’s Orthopedic Unit is located on 10 East in the Main Hospital in beautiful downtown Charleston. 10 East is a 20 bed acute care, post-operative unit, specializing in Orthopedic and Urology surgeries. Our patients seek us out for our expertise in adult reconstruction, total joint replacement, ortho trauma, ortho oncology, and urologic procedures. MUSC’s Joint Replacement program has received the Join Commission Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Knee Replacement and the Joint Commission Gold Seal Certification for Total Shoulder Replacement. The Orthopedic unit was awarded the NAON Nursing Excellence (ONE) Award acknowledging our commitment to professionalism in nursing practice through exemplary care for patient and achievement in quality outcomes. Requirements

• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
• RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
• A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

• Utilize the principles and practices of the nursing process.
• Deliver safe and effective care.
• Interact with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
