About The Position

St. Catherine Hospital, located in Garden City, Kansas, was founded by two pioneering physicians and the Dominican Sisters. They created and maintained the spirit that has enabled St. Catherine Hospital employees to develop a thriving health care facility unlike any other in southwest Kansas. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Catherine Hospital is an eight-bed ICU, staffed by an intensivist 24 hours per day. The unit cares for a wide range of patients including those with sepsis, COPD exacerbation, respiratory distress, pneumonia, heart failure, GI bleed, renal failure, and overdose. They manage patients with art lines, central lines, intubations, procedures, and telemetry monitoring. The department is known for its collaborative teamwork and supportive, family-like environment, offering self-scheduling and opportunities to develop a multitude of skills. The mission is to provide the best care for all patients, from pediatrics to geriatrics, in a faith-based, mission-driven culture that cultivates excellence and professional fulfillment.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Nursing required
• Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates
• One year RN experience
• Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
• RN License required
• Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred for experienced RNs

Responsibilities

• Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
• Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.
• Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
