About The Position

Harborview Medical Center invites you to be considered for growth opportunities in nursing by expressing your interest in our ICU Training Program. Nurses for these RN (Registered Nurse) positions will receive a structured training program that includes classroom sessions, on-line module components; along with a precepted orientation, which will allow for success in this challenging and high acuity environment. Harborview ICUs include: Neurosciences (30 beds); Trauma Surgical (24 beds); Medical Cardiac (17 beds); and Burns & Pediatrics (18 beds). Position openings are for individual units, for 90% FTE nights. Currently accepting applications for March 2022 and May 2022 cohort start dates. Individual openings vary depending upon individual unit hiring needs. Please note - if hired for an ICU position via ICU Training Program - there would be a minimum two year commitment expectation to the unit you are hiring on with. Requirements

  • Current WA State RN License.
  • Two+ years of med-surg/acute care RN experience strongly preferred.
  • If a current Harborview RN, must have completed a minimum of two years on the initial unit as RN if initially hired as a new grad RN in med-surg/acute care.
  • If initially hired with at least one year of acute care RN experience, must have completed a minimum of one year on the initial unit as RN.
  • Entry level RNs may be considered if they have nursing technician experience in Harborview ICU and/or senior practicum in Harborview ICU.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured training program that includes classroom sessions and online modules.
  • Complete a precepted orientation to succeed in a high acuity environment.
  • Provide critical care management to multi-service adult patients.
  • Care for patients with a variety of medical/surgical diagnoses and trauma injuries.
  • Engage in innovative research projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to achieve the best patient outcomes.
