Position Overview Department: Lactation Schedule: Part time - 2x12hr shifts per week Work Location: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham Benefits for eligible positions only include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more What You Will Do Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor. Perform initial and on-going assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding. Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assists with their development. Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding. Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) preferred. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Education: Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and required professional licensure at time of hire. Additional Preferences No additional preferences.
