The Registered Nurse I is accountable for utilizing the nursing process, performing and delegating patient care tasks, and supervising other patient care staff. This role involves coordinating the plan of care for assigned patients and consulting with other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The clinical nurse is expected to demonstrate proficiency and adhere to established policies, rules, guidelines, and procedures. In a clinic setting, the RN I provides professional nursing care, manages telephone triage, patient flow, and coordinates patient care. Specific duties include scheduling emergent patient appointments, identifying learning needs for patients and families, providing advice and recommendations, inserting intravenous access with medication administration, and performing other clinic-specific tasks. The RN I delegates tasks to clinical staff based on demonstrated competencies and scope of practice, serves as a subject matter expert for patient education, assessment, interpretation, and documentation of patient care and testing, and enters admission orders as directed by a provider. The role also includes managing expired samples and requires the ability to work both in a team and autonomously, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor. The RN I may also cover Medical Assistant, LPN, or other office duties as needed. This is a full-time night position within Saint Luke’s Health System, a faith-based, nonprofit, locally owned health system in Kansas City with 18 hospitals and campuses, home care and hospice, behavioral health care, physician practices, and a senior living community.
