About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes. This position is for the Ashley River Tower (ART) 6 West, a 21-bed acute care unit that provides care to adult patients (age 18 or older, and adolescents aged 14-17 under specific circumstances) with a variety of diagnoses including general medicine, GI surgery, surgical oncology, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, cardiology, CT surgery, and hematology/oncology. The nursing staff on ART 6W is trained to utilize various devices, tools, and techniques for safe patient care, operating in an educational and collaborative work environment with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other ancillary staff. The team also collaborates with the Rapid Response team and MSICU for higher levels of care. ART 6W fosters engagement and development through its unit-based Shared Governance Council, allowing team members to influence unit decisions and workflows. Additionally, MUSC offers various pathways and opportunities for career growth and participation in hospital-wide Shared Governance Councils.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date
