In conformance with established standards, procedures, and policy, provides a full range of professional nursing services in the care and treatment of residents, such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs, examining residents using nursing assessment skills and monitoring physical conditions and reactions to various treatments and adheres to State and Federal regulatory guidelines utilizing professional training and experience in the field of nursing. Prepares and maintains medical records and histories such as recording physicians orders, charting medications, recording resident conditions and behaviors. Provides guidance, instruction and explanation of patient care and treatment and the use of equipment to non-professional nursing staff. Makes regular rounds of residents in relation to nursing duties and physician rounds. Sets up, operates, and monitors special equipment, such as aspiration equipment and suction equipment. Orders and maintains medications and other medical equipment and supplies. Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
