About The Position

Surgical Observation Unit is a 21-bed unit that cares for Phase2 and post-op patients from the Main PACU and OR. These patients are med-surg level of care for surgeries including General Surgery, Orthopedic, Gynecology, Urology and Endocrinology. Each will plan to discharge same day or within 23 hours post-op. Nurses are responsible for Phase2 anesthesia recoveries and surgery specific care to include surgery specific discharge instructions. ACLS required before end of orientation. The application deadline to apply for this unit is February 12, 2026. Hours Per Week: 36 Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 3-12 hour shifts. Shifts vary based on the needs of the department. Job Summary/Purpose: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • ACLS required before end of orientation.
