About The Position

The Supplemental Registered Nurse will fill in for vacation and sick calls at various locations based on department need. This position is eligible for a 12% supplemental differential. General Description: The Registered Nurse I must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment in meeting continual deadlines; handle multiple priorities with constant interruptions; be highly organized to meet deadlines. Interacts with physicians, other departments within Inland Imaging, patients and family members and outside contacts. Excellent written, verbal and personal communication skills; be tactful and diplomatic; and be highly confidential. Is familiar with the current WA State Nursing Practice Act. Makes decisions regarding daily work priorities and other decisions based on company policies and procedures. Assesses patient needs by phone and in person for appropriateness of procedure/exam and/or sedation by: Obtaining medical history and prior sedation reaction history Current physical condition and review of physiological systems Provides accurate explanation of procedure/exam, pre-procedure/pre-exam instructions, answers questions & addresses concerns of patient and family Adapts assessment, patient care, treatment plan and education to age specific requirements Monitors patient during procedure for level of sedation, adverse reactions and responds to changes in patient status Performs parenteral procedures i.e., contrast injections, IV starts and venipuncture for lab specimens Collaborates with technologists as needed during exams Maintains controlled substances security and all medication used at Inland Imaging centers: Maintains adequate supply levels Restocks daily and regularly monitors expiration dates on medications Maintains the security, adequate and accurate records of all controlled substances and other medications according to DEA and WA State, DOH regulations and including Joint Commission standards when necessary. Maintains security of narcotic keys and locked drug boxes Documents and appropriately charges patients for medications and supplies Follows current Washington State Nurse Practice Act for the administration of medications and IV solutions Proficiently tracks patient data in Medicalis and EPIC Performs essential duties of job within MRI safety zone and adheres to MRI Safety Compliance Administers TB tests and flu shots, and reads TB results for employees and Radiologists Responds to emergency situations First responder for code situation First responder for all contrast reactions Practices principles of radiation safety, consistently maintains personal radiation badge, reviews quarterly radiation exposure report and practices MRI safety. This position may be required to work with hospital in patients, hospital ED patients and patients transferred from different clinical facilities that may have high acuity levels. Quarterly quality assurance meeting attendance is required for this position. Attendance is a requirement for this position. Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed. Requirements

  • AA Degree required
  • Accredited Nursing Program required
  • One year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse required
  • Must maintain current Washington State RN licensure
  • Must not have an active judgment against state nursing license or an active enforcement action again nursing license.
  • Current ACLS or previously trained in ACLS – required
  • Current CPR/BLS or previously trained - required
  • Experience with computer applications and keyboarding – required
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
  • Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two to three IV starts per day in previous position(s) preferred
  • Post anesthesia patient care experience – preferred
  • Excellent patient assessment skills
  • Experience in conscious sedation / moderate sedation competency
  • Interventional radiology experience – preferred
  • Anatomy and medical terminology
  • Medical office experience - preferred
  • Understanding of procedures to be read by radiologist preferred.
  • Follows OSHA and WISHA regulation and WA state DOH regulations.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills, warranted for different acuity level of patients.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification or Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification, Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)– helpful
  • Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Outlook; Microsoft Office Suite; Workday; Qgenda, Stentor; Medicalis; EPIC; Internet/Intranet
