About The Position

The Registered Nurse I (PRN) assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This position is ECB status - requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings. The role involves specialized care of a diverse patient population with a variety of medical etiologies, including surgical diagnoses. Nurses will develop a broad base of nursing skills and instincts as they care for patients through all phases of the life cycle. All licensed nurses are dysrhythmia certified with the option to become ACLS certified. Ongoing education offerings are available to promote career development, supported by tenured, mentoring staff.

Requirements

  • Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing.
  • Holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree in nursing.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • 2 years related experience.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients.
  • Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors.
  • Documents steps of the nursing process.
  • Utilizes proper medical terminology.
  • Addresses problems and progress toward goals.
  • Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities.
