Main 6E Transplant is a dynamic 22-bed adult inpatient unit dedicated to caring for fresh post-operative solid organ abdominal transplant patients, including kidney, liver, and kidney/pancreas recipients. Nurses on this unit support patients from pre-transplant preparation to post-transplant recovery. The role involves working in both Intermediate/Stepdown and Acute Care settings, allowing for the development of broad clinical skills. Intermediate Care nurses manage highly specialized patients requiring arterial lines and advanced drips. The unit invests in its nurses' success, providing ACLS certification and peritoneal dialysis training within the first six months to build a strong clinical foundation. While transplant is the core specialty, MH6E also cares for a wide range of acute care patients, offering continuous learning opportunities. The Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at an advanced beginner level, providing individualized, goal-directed nursing care to patients and families using the nursing process and collaborating with other healthcare team members to achieve desired outcomes. This is a fast-paced, team-focused environment designed for growth and making a life-changing impact on patients and families.
