Hours: Will vary according to available vacancies/department | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience Position Summary: Our RN I team member is a novice nurse progressing to an advanced level nurse. The novice nurse has no experience and follows general rules when performing duties. The RN I practices in a limited and inflexible scope and follows instructions. The advanced beginner has more experience and uses repetition and experience to develop and guide nursing actions. Concepts are used when providing for routine patient care. The RN I performs routine care and seeks assistance from policies, procedures and experienced nurses.

Requirements

Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of NC.
Current BLS certification.
Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.
Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen required upon conditional job offer.

Responsibilities

Seeks assistance and appropriate input based on situation.
Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families and friends.
Provides direct, professional nursing care to patients.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
Ensures safe operation of equipment.
Seeks guidance when preparing equipment and assisting physicians during examinations and treatments.
Administers medications by using the electronic health record and scanning process.
Documents, monitors and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.
Provides patient education of illness/disease and promotes health maintenance and disease prevention.
Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
Communicates effectively with patients, families and other team members.
Performs a head-to-toe assessment and reassessments on all age groups.
Interact professionally with patient/family and provides explanation and verbal reassurance.
Formulates and updates an individualized plan of care for each patient.
With assistance, assumes the role of patient advocate.
Seeks out and complies with protocols, procedures, and policies.
Documents all nursing care data concisely, accurately and completely in a timely manner, using the appropriate format.
Communicates appropriately and effectively with all hospital staff, visitors, families and physicians.
Exhibits professionalism at all times, showing respect and dignity to all.
