Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Homecare in Wausau, WI is seeking a Registered Nurse Hospice After Hours and Triage to join our field team! The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process when assisting with hospice care and patient care management in various settings, i.e., home, skilled nursing facilities, assist living facilities. The RN performs a wide variety of patient care activities, including documentation within the medical record. The RN utilizes nursing skills when assessing and triaging patients and recommending care. The position requires the ability to make decisions consistent with nursing practice, clinic policies, and observance of confidentiality of patient information. HOURS: Full Time or .9 FTE, 72 hours every pay period. PM/Night rotation (7 days on / 7 days off) Hours are 4:30pm - 8am. Requirements

  • Knowledge of patient care standards and practices is commonly acquired through graduation from an accredited RN program licensed by the State of Wisconsin or Michigan to practice professional nursing.
  • Three to five years' experience in hospice/palliative care nursing required.
  • Possesses an active WI and MI RN nursing license.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin, and knowledge testing. A good training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.   • Possesses a valid Wisconsin or Michigan Driver's License required.
  • Possesses automobile liability insurance with minimum $100,000/$300,000 coverage required, or $300,000 combined single-limit liability.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of hospice practices/symptom management and patient/family education and support.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Skill in applying and modifying professional nursing principles, methods, and techniques to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Skillin identifying problems and recommending solutions.
  • Skillin preparing and maintaining records, writing protocols, and responding to correspondence.
  • Skillin developing and maintaining relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to assess patients in person and over the telephone; make recommendations and document.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and complete work at the designated time.
