This specific role involves providing highly skilled, complex care to surgical oncology patients, as well as ENT, Thoracic, Urology, Plastics, and General surgery patients. The patient population includes critically ill individuals requiring ventilation, vasopressors, continuous dialysis, and therapeutic specialty beds. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong initiative, compassion, high integrity, and collaboration. The IU Health University Hospital’s Hematology/Oncology Unit is a 28-bed unit specializing in Acute Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Sarcomas, and Intestinal Cancers. The Registered Nurse on this unit will gain experience in various aspects of caring for patients with cancer.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN)
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
