Our Pre-OP/GI department in our main hospital location consists of 14 pre-op rooms with 1 GI suite and 1 bronchoscopy suite. Our nurses are responsible for assisting with assessments and preparation of patients scheduled for surgery, endoscopy, and bronchoscopies. Our patients are comprised of all ages from 8 months to geriatric. Our nurses practice safe patient care while being self-reliant and understanding hospital resources that can be utilized. Our schedule requires weekend, weekday, and holiday call rotation along with an on-call requirement with a 1-hour response window. Nursing skills gained: Starting IV Assessing and monitoring vital signs (Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Oxygen) Hanging Antibiotics Drawing Labs Assessing blood sugar Focused assessments on all Pre-Op patients Bedside sedation Bronchoscopy circulator and recovery Nurse Intra-Op GI Nurse GI Recovery Nurse Unit Successes/Designations/National recognition: Magnet Certified Facility Unit Culture Highlights: Nurses treating patients with compassion, care, and clinical excellence as you will provide critical assessment skills to outpatients and inpatients.
