Position Overview The Contractor shall provide qualified Geriatric Registered Nurses (RNs) to deliver on-site nursing services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) within the VA Palo Alto Health Care System , including the Palo Alto and Menlo Park campuses. Services are primarily provided within Community Living Centers (CLCs) and are expected to meet or exceed nationally recognized standards of geriatric nursing care consistent with state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facilities. Contractor personnel will have access to all necessary patient care equipment, supplies, and VA computer systems required to perform assigned duties. Compensation: Starting out at $75.00/hr including full tme benefits Primary Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to geriatric Veterans in Community Living Centers. Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care in accordance with VA policies and professional nursing standards. Deliver age-appropriate care addressing chronic illness, functional limitations, and complex medical needs common to geriatric populations. Administer medications and treatments as ordered and monitor patient responses. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes. Maintain accurate and timely documentation using VA-approved electronic health record systems. Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications Required Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California , with no negative indicators. Graduation from an accredited nursing program recognized by the State of California. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum of two (2) years of recent nursing experience , preferably in geriatric, long-term care, or acute care settings. Ability to provide high-quality care consistent with nationally recognized nursing standards.
