About The Position

The position involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care utilizing the nursing process as ordered by physicians to facilitate effective patient care delivery. The role is based in the General Surgery department at the Natalie Building of the Warren Clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Requirements

• Completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing approved by a state board of nursing.
• Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
• 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
• Working knowledge of intramuscular and intravenous medication administration techniques.
• Knowledge of nursing principles and protocols.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
• Detail-oriented in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, and carry out patient care considering patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
• Assist physician with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments according to established protocols.
• Administer medications via intra-muscular injections and intravenously, including chemotherapy as directed by physician order.
• Coordinate patient care through triage of patient telephone calls regarding urgency of appointments, scheduling, and hospital admissions.
• Promote patient population wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice and instructions to patients.
• Document all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, and appropriate medical data in patient medical records.
• Utilize IDX, EMR, and other computer applications to accomplish tasks according to policies and procedures.
