About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Emergency Services provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients using critical thinking and independent judgment. This role encompasses all phases of the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse is responsible for the direction and supervision of the nursing patient care team and collaborates with their team and other disciplines in the provision of care. Documentation of patient care, patient condition, reactions, and response to treatment is required in a timely manner, along with tracking patient progress.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a program in nursing.
  • Current licensure in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • ACLS and PALS certification.
  • TNCC certification within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments, developing and updating the plan of care in collaboration with the patient.
  • Provide and direct nursing care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Use technology appropriately, including safety standards and measures; follow infection prevention standards.
  • Utilize evidence-based tools, established policies, procedures, and standards of care and practice.
  • Educate patients and family members and document accordingly.
  • Report actual or potential occurrences according to Oaklawn Hospital procedures.
  • Engage in self-assessment, peer review, and complete mandatory education and competency assessments.
  • Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities and staff meetings.
  • Behave in accordance with Oaklawn Hospital's mission, vision, values, and Nursing's vision and philosophy.
  • Practice in accord with the legal definition of nursing in the State of Michigan, including provisions on delegation and supervision.
