JOB TYPE Classification: Non Exempt Supervises Positions: JOB SUMMARY Registered Nurse Floaters are responsible for providing continuous quality patient care in a variety of settings. The Float Pool RN is part of a resource team that is assigned to varying units during their shift to ensure that patient care needs are met. These RNs possess the skills, competency, and qualifications, as well as a requirement to work in several different clinical areas. This group shall be known as the Float Pool. These employees are a part of Patient Care Services. There are three RN teams in the float Pool, RN Team 1, Specialty Track/ CCU, RN Team 2, Inpatient Acute, and RN Team 3, Women' Services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Team 1 (Specialty/CCU): Minimum of 2 years in critical care or ED setting required.
  • Team 2 (Inpatient Acute): Minimum of1 year general medical surgical/telemetry experience required.
  • Team 3 (Women's Services): Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, or NICU required.
  • All teams require Cardiac Dysrhythmia test or successful completion of the Cardiac Dysrhythmia course within 6 months of hire.
  • Current compact RN licensure in applicable state required.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NVCI.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs.
  • For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Registered Nurse Floaters are responsible for providing continuous quality patient care in a variety of settings.
  • The Float Pool RN is part of a resource team that is assigned to varying units during their shift to ensure that patient care needs are met.
  • Ensures completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and other related therapies.
  • Prioritizes job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels.
  • Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.
  • The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
