About the position

Are you ready to take your Nursing to the next level and drive health equality? At NBCH we provide high quality care to meet the needs of our diverse patients. We offer a variety of services to the community, including primary & urgent care, women's health, pediatrics, adult medicine, behavioral health and dental care. We offer a work/life balance that other organizations may not be able to provide: Monday - Friday: no nights, only 1 Saturday a month, and every Sunday off. Closed when traveling conditions are deemed too dangerous for staff & patients means less child care hassles when school is cancelled.

Responsibilities

  • Gain ideas and feelings that identify needs as an empathetic listener.
  • Respond appropriately in emergencies.
  • Evaluate data in making interpretations and differentiate nursing situations that require priority.
  • Assist in initiating referrals and utilizing available resources within and outside the facility.
  • Assist providers with developing short and long-term goals and involve the patient and family in care plans.
  • Administer immunizations/treatments and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Defend and preserve the rights of patients as a patient champion.
  • Order/stock immunizations and confirm expiration dates.
  • Contribute to the orientation of new nurses and provide direction for medical assistants.
  • Document in the electronic health record and prepare test results.
  • Prioritize patient phone calls and determine the need for immediate medical care.

Requirements

  • Current MA RN license or completion of a formal education program in practical nursing.
  • Current state licensure/BLS Certified (with AED). Responsible for keeping certification current.
  • 1-3 years experience performed in a physician's office or community health setting.
  • Minimum one year MED/SURG experience desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual Spanish and/or Portuguese skills preferred.
  • IV experience preferred.
