About The Position

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for an experienced Nurse who is interested in transitioning to the Progressive Care (PCU) specialty to participate in our Fellowship program. This role will be Full-time Night Shift: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. (3 - 12hr shifts a week). Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible. Inova Fair Oak's Progressive Care Unit is comprised of 36 beds. Patients admitted require cardiac telemetry monitoring and frequently have cardiac, renal, respiratory, and/or gastrointestinal disease processes. In order to care for these complex patients, the staff works together as a team with a unified mission of quality and excellence.

Requirements

• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate's degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience: Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of telemetry or med/surg experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.
