Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients utilizing face to face visits as well as tele health nursing.
  • Conduct patient visits including review of patient health issues, medication review, immunization administration, and patient education.
  • Collaborate daily with physicians, clinical assistants, appointment coordinators, and medical secretaries.
  • Accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
  • Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care.
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Provide leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.
  • Possess excellent communication skills; mentor and teach; and may participate on committees or projects.

Requirements

  • Student or Graduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
  • If graduated from a non-accredited nursing program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
  • All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
  • Minimum of two years recent RN experience in acute care required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Must demonstrate high level of initiative, demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Previous telephone triage experience helpful.
