About The Position

As the Electrophysiology Lab (EP Lab) Registered Nurse (RN), you will assess assigned patients, plan and implement comprehensive nursing care for patients, document care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes in an appropriate and timely manner.

Requirements

  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) OR Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Assess assigned patients
  • Plan and implement comprehensive nursing care for patients
  • Document care plans
  • Evaluate patient outcomes in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Complete an admission interview within 24 hours of patient admission, including documentation of patient educational needs and discharge planning
  • Identify changes in patient condition and report findings to the physician and/or Nursing Unit Supervisor
  • Initiate the nursing care plan within 8 hours of admission, and review and update the plan every 24 hours
  • Identify and prioritize relevant nursing diagnoses and provide individualized nursing interventions
  • Administer and document medications
  • Evaluate the plan of care to determine if modifications need to be made
  • Document the resolution of patient problems identified in the plan of care
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient teaching and revise the teaching plan as needed
