Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
  • Current RN unrestricted VA license
  • BLS Required
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in Outpatient Endoscopy or surgery

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 2 years' experience in a GI setting

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, ensuring patients are prepared for surgery both physically and emotionally.
  • Administer medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
  • Monitor patients closely in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), assessing their recovery and vital signs.
  • Provide comprehensive patient education regarding postoperative care and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth transition between preoperative and postoperative phases.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of nursing care plans.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
