About The Position

Under the direction of the Emergency Medical Services Director, the Lead Nurse/Educator has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the emergency medical service (EMS) department, their effect on patient care while in the care of the EMS crews. This position is responsible for department specific education and competencies for staff.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree upon hire.
• 5 hospital experience/ 1 year EMS experience. Internship and/or preceptorship required dependent upon nursing/EMS experience.
• Active Florida RN or APRN license required upon hire.
• Valid Driver’s License upon hire.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or RQI upon hire.
• Current American Heart Association Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification or RQI upon hire.
• Current American Heart Association PALS certification.
• Current NIHSS Certification upon hire.
• AVADE Education within 90 days of hire date.
• 8 hours Stroke Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually.
• 8 hours Hip & Knee Replacement / Spine Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates effective assessment skills to ensure quality patient care is provided.
• Consistently develops an appropriate plan of care for patient during transport.
• Establishes appropriate implementation of EMS and nursing actions to ensure competent care is delivered.
