About The Position

We are seeking an Emergency Room RN, also referred to as an Emergency Department RN or Emergency Services RN. The ER RN provides rapid and skilled care to patients who arrive at the hospital seeking emergency medical attention. The ER Nurses are skilled professionals who play a critical role in delivering emergent and urgent care to patients in the emergency department. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire required
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting
  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current
  • EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
  • Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current

Nice To Haves

  • E.R. setting preferred
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly, follow standardized triage protocols to quickly identify patients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions
  • Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries which may involve administering medications, performing procedures such as wound care or splinting, monitoring vital signs, and managing pain
  • In cases of severe illness or trauma, you may assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions, this can include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care
  • Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations effectively. remain calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events
  • Communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology
  • Stay up to date with Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker
  • Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions
