About The Position

The Emergency Room Nurse Manager provides leadership and oversight for Emergency Department operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. This role supports a collaborative team environment and plays a key role in maintaining clinical excellence, staff development, and operational efficiency. The RN Manager assumes responsibility for unit operations in the absence of the Director and is accountable for staffing and resource planning based on patient volume and departmental needs. This role assists with development and revision of unit standards, participates in interviewing, hiring, and evaluating staff, and ensures licensure, competencies, and mandatory education requirements are met. The RN Manager supports onboarding and orientation of new team members and maintains open communication with interdisciplinary departments to coordinate efficient patient care.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or current enrollment in a BSN program
  • Prior Emergency Department management experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia or multistate compact RN license required
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within one year of employment start date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within one year of employment start date
