About The Position

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Crown Point , located in Crown Point, Indiana as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse . UChicago Medicine is an integrated academic and community health system with multiple primary medical facilities within the surrounding suburbs of Chicago. UChicago Medicine, Crown Point is a two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center and micro-hospital in Northwest Indiana, the academic health system's largest off-site facility and its first freestanding building in Indiana. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) will perform primary nursing functions of assessing, planning, directing, performing, and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Room to patients of all ages suffering from various types of illness or trauma that requires emergency attention. The ED RN will serve as a professional role model by encouraging teamwork and collaborating with clinical and front office staff, administration, and other professional disciplines to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and optimal patient outcomes with the highest level of patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, in good standing, licensed in the state of Indiana.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a hospital Emergency Department.
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) and ACLS, PALS, or ENPC required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to manage care within the established standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the state of Indiana and required by hospital accrediting bodies.
  • Initiates care to stabilize patient and assists in managing life support needs by collaborating with Physicians and Clinical staff, demonstrating appropriate admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
  • Provides high quality and high satisfaction bedside care and administers treatments under the direct supervision of the Physician, anticipating patient needs and responding accordingly.
  • Accurately and concisely documents services provided within the medical record in a thorough, timely manner.
  • Collects laboratory samples and performs lab testing in accordance with CLIA regulations and established policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform laboratory Quality Controls and Assessments, and routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function according to Laboratory policy and procedures.
  • Participates in QAPI activities including participation in accreditation preparation and survey process and maintenance of accreditation, state, and CMS standards.
  • Attends and participates in all applicable facility meetings, training, and development workshops, and reviews/understands all required policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper supplies, appropriate medical equipment and medications are available for patient care and par levels meet patient and facility needs.
