About The Position

Join UPMC Shadyside’s Emergency Department! Sign-On Bonus: $7,500 for experienced nurses with more than one year of experience Registered Nurses: Part-Time position available at 20 hours a week. Looking specifically to work off-shifts Must have 1 year of RN experience, ED experience preferred Unit: Emergency Department About UPMC Shadyside: A Magnet-designated teaching hospital with ongoing research and education About the SHY Emergency Department: 2025-2028 Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Lantern Award Recipient “which recognizes excellence in emergency departments that demonstrate exceptional performance in leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research” 50 bed unit specializing in critical care, emergent oncology care, and minor trauma care Unique collaboration with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and designated Oncology ED for Southwestern UPMC region Designated oncology area within the ED Comprehensive care for all patients available 24/7 Primary stroke center 24-hour cardiac catheterization lab for STEMI cases Volume and acuity are variable and can change quickly, making the ED an extremely fast paced, unpredictable environment where rapid problem- solving and critical thinking are necessary to address evolving needs and priorities. Requirements

1 year of RN experience required, ED experience preferred
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to provide care and interact with all ages of patients.
Understand the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
Establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with patients and their families, executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, and other departments.
Work productively and effectively in an environment with changing priorities that require specialized skills.
Think critically to analyze and problem-solve to deliver the best patient care.
Use sound clinical judgment and problem-solve to deliver quality patient care when it matters most.
Understand, apply, and champion nursing best practices.
Ability to work productively and effectively within complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
ACLS within 12 months of hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
PALS within 12 months of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Registered Nurse (RN)
Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
