About The Position

Registered Nurses deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Nurses effectively interact with patient and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Registered Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Due to the broad range of medical conditions they encounter, they must be well-verse in a large variety of health conditions. Registered Nurses have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys and improvement initiatives. In addition, Registered Nurses must uphold the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Emergency Department Registered Nurses provide care for patients of all ages and acuity. Patients present to the Emergency Department with a wide variety and/or combination of illnesses and injuries at varying and unpredictable paces. Emergency Department census, acuity, and surges demand continuous prioritization of both patients and nursing interventions by the Registered Nurse to maintain safe and efficient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, AD)
  • No previous experience
  • Registered Nurse
  • ACLS should be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • TNCC should be completed within 18 months of hire.
  • PALS or ENPC should be completed within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS - should not initiate patient contact until completed.
  • NIHSS should be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Self-Initiative: active contributor to ED flow and throughput
  • Sense of Urgency: provide safe, fast, effective care regardless of acuity or census
  • Adaptability: the emergency department requires constant adjustment to meet acuity and volume intensity as well as situational adaptation
  • Professional appearance and decorum at all times; the ED is the 'front door' to the hospital
  • Ability to handle confidential information
