About The Position

The position is within the Emergency Department, where the nurse collaborates with physicians to create a care plan aimed at returning patients to optimal health. The role involves providing bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff including Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates. The nurse is also responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
• Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course and Basic Neuroscience course within the first 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Must satisfactorily complete first available Basic Dysrhythmia course.
• Must complete TNCC (Trauma Nurse Certification) within one year of hire or transfer.
• Must complete ENPC within two years of hire or transfer.

Nice To Haves

• Six months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent preferred.
• Critical Care Nurse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs.
• Communicates with appropriate resource persons and attends discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Seeks out educational opportunities for professional growth.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
