About The Position

Provides direct and indirect professional nursing patient care in the emergency care setting that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectations with a minimum of supervision. Is able to effectively triage all patients presenting for emergency care rapidly and accurately. Obtains assessment data, determines priorities of care and implements appropriate interventions based on identification of physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Monitors effectiveness and patient response to interventions and treatments implemented. Functions effectively and coordinates planning of care within the multidisciplinary team framework essential to the emergency care setting. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition, patient responses to treatment and/or additional patient needs within the department. Communicates effectively with the multidisciplinary patient care team, including Emergency Department Physicians, regarding changes in patient status, pertinent clinical findings, and results of diagnostic tests, additional patient needs and information pertinent to Emergency Department patient flow. Documents pertinent, accurate and complete patient information reflective of Emergency Department care provided.

Requirements

  • Graduate of professional school of nursing.
  • Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS & PALS qualification required within 6 months of hire.
  • TNCC required within 1 year of hire.
  • CEN preferred.
  • Emergency nursing experience preferred.
  • Critical care experience desirable.
  • Solid assessment, prioritization and critical thinking skills.
