About The Position

Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population in the Emergency Department. He/she assures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the department's standards of care and the Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and the organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensure/Registration/Certification: Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • BLS upon hire
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire or transfer
  • PALS within 2 years of hire or transfer
  • 1 year medical/surgical nursing experience required.
  • Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
  • Must meet clinical competency standards specific to Emergency Department patients.

Nice To Haves

  • NALS/NRP recommended and desired.
  • TNCC recommended.
  • CEN certification desired.
