About The Position

Orlando Health - Horizon West is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department (ED) on a night shift. The RN will administer patient care in a hospital setting where patients have advanced illnesses or injuries requiring timely, intense, and complex care. The role demands a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members with advanced skills. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of Emergency Department experience.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications are required for certain areas.
  • Experience in a high-intensity nursing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates critical knowledge, skills, and judgement to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies.
  • Utilizes information and assessment data to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Identifies and prioritizes information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action.
  • Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients and interprets electronic displays.
  • Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
  • Observes, monitors, and assesses patients' condition, recognizing serious situations and calling for physician assistance when necessary.
  • Assesses patient's needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care.
  • Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  • Functions as a patient and family advocate.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
  • Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Documents patient care in a knowledgeable and consistent manner.
  • Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment.
  • Prioritizes patient care in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
  • Practices effective problem identification and resolution.
  • Delegates tasks and duties to healthcare team members appropriately.
  • Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate environment for patients and families.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
