About The Position

Join an award-winning team at Saint Mary’s Health Network, a member of Prime Healthcare, which offers inpatient, outpatient, ancillary, and wellness services in Northern Nevada. Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center is a 352-bed acute care hospital nationally recognized and accredited. The Registered Nurse-Cardiovascular (Staff RN-Cardiovascular) is responsible for delivering direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting, specifically in both the Main OR and Cardiovascular OR. This involves utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) for patients across all age groups (neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults). The role requires coordination of patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists, and guiding OR Technicians and other personnel while upholding professional nursing standards. The nurse will also collaborate with other departments to ensure a continuum of care, efficient patient flow, and unit organization, while adhering to all regulations, standards, and hospital policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training at Saint Mary’s required
  • One year previous Cardiovascular OR experience required
  • Must be able to communicate in English (Speak, Write)
  • Current and valid Nevada RN License
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • ACLS (AHA) certification required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting in both the Main OR and Cardiovascular OR through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults.
  • Coordinate the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist.
  • Direct and guide the OR Technician and other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
  • Work with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization.
  • Adhere to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services.
  • Act as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
