About The Position

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking PRN Registered Nurses to join our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) team and provide compassionate care during available shifts. The CSU is a 24-hour, 25-bed facility offering intensive behavioral health crisis intervention for up to five days, supported by a multidisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, RNs, LPNs, Medical Assistants, Therapists, Case Managers, Milieu Counselors, and Peer Support Specialists. As a CSU RN, you will deliver high-quality, person-centered clinical care to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises, using strong de-escalation skills, sound clinical judgment, and a trauma-informed approach. Candidates must hold an active RN license in good standing and current BLS certification. This PRN role offers shift differentials with opportunities to pick up Day (6:30 am–7:00 pm), Mid (8:00 am–8:30 pm), and NOC (6:30 pm–7:00 am) shifts. The ideal nurse is collaborative, self-motivated, flexible, and committed to providing hope and healing in moments of crisis. Availability. This PRN role requires availability to complete initial in‑person orientation and training during the scheduled onboarding week (Tuesday - Thursday), followed by up to eight (8) paid training shifts within the first two months, scheduled based on operational needs. To remain active in PRN status, employees are expected to work at least two shifts per month, with each shift lasting a minimum of five (5) hours, unless otherwise approved. Salary for this role. The starting wage is based on licensure and company equity. Paid bi-weekly. $40.22 - $48.42 hourly PRN Differential: eligible for a 10% PRN differential Shift Differential Pay. The Day weekend shift differential is paid from 7 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays only; the Swing shift differential is paid from 3 pm to 11 pm; and the Overnight shift differential is paid from 11 pm to 7 am Day Weekend (Sat, Sun): $2.50/hour Overnight Weekday (Monday - Thursday): $4.25/hour Overnight Weekend (Friday, Saturday & Sunday): $6.25/hour Swing Weekday (Mon-Thurs): $2.75/hour Swing Weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun): $4.25/hour

Requirements

  • Licensure: Active State of Colorado Registered Nursing License.
  • Associate's in Nursing required.
  • Must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to administer medications and injections.
  • Demonstrated ability in nursing assessment, including evaluation and interpretation of medical and behavioral health information.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with nursing care management concepts and psychotropic medications.
  • Advanced written and oral communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, efficient time management, with multitasking ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to collaborate with other internal and external teams.
  • Ability to learn and operate various software programs, including Word, Excel, and web-based systems.
  • Required Vaccination and TB Test. AMHR has prioritized the health and safety of our clients and staff and requires all employees to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and receive negative TB test results before their first day of hire. Proof of the flu shot and a negative TB test will be required upon your first day of employment. Medical or religious exemption may be requested.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Preferred: one year of relevant clinical experience.
  • Preferred: Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the medical and clinical functions of the medical team (completing all medical orders and communicating vital patient care information to physician/prescriber).
  • Screen potential clients for admission and adhere to admission criteria. This may include testing for COVID-19.
  • Complete nursing assessments of clients upon admission.
  • Document clear and concise notes regarding patients’ condition, reaction to medication, and treatments in EMR.
  • Perform nursing interventions within the scope of practice, congruent with licensing.
  • Contribute to the development of the treatment planning process as it relates to medical needs and concerns.
  • Provide educational support surrounding medications and self-administration.
  • Provide coordination and support to program staff and clients.
  • Observe, identify, and monitor the condition of the patient, including changes in symptoms, and relates same to appropriate members of the treatment team.
  • Administer injections and medications.
  • Provide medical case management and other clinical interventions, as appropriate.
  • Act as liaison to outside agencies and providers to ensure continuity of care for patients.
  • Provide assistance in crisis intervention, as needed.
  • Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
  • Provide information to credentialing, payroll, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Attend meetings and training as needed.
  • Maintain professional licensing as required by applicable state laws.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
