About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse position is for the Critical Care Unit at Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin, Indiana. Johnson Memorial Health is a nationally-recognized network of physicians, services and healthcare resources. The role involves comprehensive patient care, including obtaining and recording initial assessments, systematically reassessing patients to identify progress and trends, implementing and documenting timely interventions, and recognizing and responding to emergencies. The nurse will make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes, participate in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning, and coordinate team assignments, making adjustments based upon patient and unit needs. Additionally, the role includes following up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness, utilizing the appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues, participating in the orientation of new staff, maintaining a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff, and participating in the unit’s continuous quality improvement plan. The nurse will also function as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff, greeting them promptly and courteously, and performing other related duties as assigned. All activities must clearly communicate and continuously support the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health and be conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. A $5,000.00 bonus is available for external candidates, requiring a 24-month commitment.

Requirements

  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required.
  • BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification required.
  • PALS Certification required for staff who are assigned to care for pediatric patients.
  • Critical Care Unit: ACLS or ALS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Critical Care Unit: Must successfully complete dysrhythmia recognition test at initial department orientation.
  • Emergency Department: Must complete ACLS or ALS certification during orientation.
  • Emergency Department: Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS must be completed within one year of hire.
  • Maternity Center: ACLS or ALS Certification required.
  • Maternity Center: NPR certification is required within 3 months of hire.
  • 24-month commitment (for bonus).

Responsibilities
