About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way, incorporating differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum to include patient and family education. Relies on education and training to complete responsibilities within scope of licensure as registered nurse.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Proficient in the English language, verbal and written communication skills, computer skills
  • Current Louisiana State license as RN
  • BLS certification and ACLS & PALS Certification within first 6 months of hire
  • CPI and NIH Stroke Scale certification within a year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs psychosocial/physiologic assessments that integrates changing data
  • Formulates a plan of care based on trends of similar patients, including patient education and discharge planning
  • Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs
  • Responds to changes in patient's needs and provides holistic care using independent clinical judgment
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family
  • Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict
  • Identifies variances from expected outcomes
  • Evaluates patient outcomes and makes revisions in the plan of care
  • Documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards
  • Consistently communicates/collaborates with the health care team members, patients and families
  • Appropriately delegates patient care activities to other health care team members
  • Maintains knowledge regarding unit initiatives
  • Participates on unit teams, work groups and/or committees
  • Demonstrates knowledge of unit based quality improvement initiatives
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives by utilizing standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery
  • Incorporates evidence based practice and research findings into nursing practice
  • Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to health care team members
  • Identifies own learning needs based on self-evaluation
  • Accountable for all documentation and completion of all required continuing education and competencies
  • Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning
  • Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice
  • Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service and Quality.
