Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a REGISTERED NURSE to join our Nursing Contact Center team! The Triage Nurse - RN utilizes the nursing process when assisting with the delivery of primary health care and patient care management in the clinic setting. The Triage Nurse - RN performs a wide variety of patient care activities including documentation within the medical record. The Triage Nurse - RN utilizes nursing skills when assessing and triaging patients and recommending follow-up care. The position requires the ability to make decisions consistent with nursing practice, clinic policies and observance of confidentiality of patient information. HOURS: Full-time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period. Varied shifts including Day/PM/ Nights and rotation weekends. This is remote position.

  • Assisting with the delivery of primary health care and patient care management in the clinic setting.
  • Performing a wide variety of patient care activities including documentation within the medical record.
  • Utilizing nursing skills when assessing and triaging patients and recommending follow-up care.
  • Making decisions consistent with nursing practice, clinic policies and observance of confidentiality of patient information.
  • Knowledge of patient care standards and practices is normally acquired through graduation from an accredited RN program.
  • Minimum three years of experience in clinic environment as member of direct patient care team strongly preferred with experience in primary care setting beneficial.
  • Demonstrated past success with progressive responsibility and team supervision.
  • Nursing Call Center: Two to three years clinical experience with varied clinical background preferred (Pediatrics, Emergency Room, Urgent Care, Critical Care, Home Health and/or Case Management).
  • Behavioral Health: Experience working with AODA or Behavioral Health patients preferred.
  • Possesses an active Wisconsin RN nursing license (clinic and welcome center).
  • Nursing Contact Center possesses an active Wisconsin and Michigan RN nursing license.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 60 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable CPR training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.   • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care in ambulatory clinic setting.
  • Knowledge of organization policies and procedures as well as health care administration principles.
  • Ability to apply policies and principles to solve everyday problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Skill in gathering, analyzing and interpreting information.Ability to assess patients in person and over the telephone; make recommendations of care and document.
  • Possesses interview/communication skills, advanced nursing assessment skills, advanced critical thinking/problem solving skills, and advanced teaching/counseling skills.
  • Possesses good written and verbal communication, ability to prioritize and coordinate work activities, ability to identify problems and recommend solutions and exercises initiative, problem solving and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications, including strong knowledge of electronic medical record.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision and within approved procedures and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the use of a crash cart and emergency procedures.
  • ACLS certification desired.
