About The Position

The position is for a part-time nurse in the Atrium Health Mobile Medicine - Fixed Wing Transports department. The role involves collecting and analyzing health data, developing individualized care plans, implementing care strategies, and evaluating patient outcomes. The nurse will work in various environments, including emergency scenes, and must have operational knowledge of multiple transportation modes. The position requires advanced practice procedures and the ability to work autonomously in critical situations.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current RN license or temporary license as a registered nurse in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing experience in the Emergency Department and/or Intensive Care Unit.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in advanced procedures and skills.
  • EMT certification upon hire or by the end of orientation.
  • Paramedic Certification required within one year of completing orientation.
  • Completion of an approved trauma certification within one year of hire.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E. certifications required.
  • Advanced certification such as CFRN, CTRN, CEN, or CCRN required.
  • Maintain annual compliance in education related to specialty area.

  • Previous transport or pre-hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation.
  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or issues.
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation.
  • Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Practices ethically and delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers.
  • Promotes shared governance and contributes to quality nursing practice.
  • Communicates effectively in various formats in all areas of practice.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
  • Participates in committees and shared governance activities.
  • Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • Supports and contributes to the patient-centered care philosophy.
  • Independently initiates advanced practice procedures to improve patient outcomes.
  • Transports and monitors patients requiring advanced medical devices.
  • Works in an autonomous environment requiring critical decision-making.
  • Responds to accident scenes and works in hazardous environments.
