Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Unrestricted Texas license as a Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Patient Care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge and ability to perform skills necessary for unit specific competencies, including age specific competencies.

Nice To Haves

• BSN.
• Advanced competencies as defined by demonstrated participation in formal Continuing Nursing Education activities.
• ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Six to Twelve months of experience as an RN in an inpatient medical surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess the needs of each patient on the unit and plan the nursing care needed to meet those needs, including spiritual, emotional, physiological, and psychosocial needs.
• Ensure that the plan of care is carried out through performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel.
• Evaluate the patients' response to the care provided both verbally and in writing.
