About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Urgent Care Weekend Program at Advocate Health involves providing ongoing nursing care tailored to the age-specific and developmental needs of patients. The role requires assessing patient needs, providing education and counseling, and recognizing changes in patient status. The RN will also participate in quality assurance activities and community education programs. The position is part-time, requiring 20 hours of work per week, primarily on weekends.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing nursing care (assess, plan, intervention, evaluation) according to the age specific and developmental needs of the patient.
  • Assesses patient, family and/or significant others educational needs and provides teaching/counseling.
  • Anticipates and recognizes changes in a patient's status and need for care.
  • Determines priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs.
  • Integrates health promotion and preventive aspects of care.
  • Provides basic instruction for patient regarding routine procedures, treatments or disease processes.
  • Provides telephone triage to patient, family and/or significant others using nursing judgment according to protocol.
  • Assures quality of care through development, implementation and evaluation of professional nursing standards.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities.
  • Participates in community education programs.
